A brief musical survey of the New World. Atmospheric density and a driving rhythm mark the programme consisting of American compositions that pick up popular folk and country music or the rock and jazz scene in many different ways. A CD of the same name will appear in March as a co-operation with the NDR Hamburg.

Nostalgias - The story of the Tango
We escort the audience through the programme
with short informative and entertaining biographical and literary
texts. We narrate the origin of the tango, from its European sources
– for example the Spanish habanera – via its heyday after 1900,
up till the contemporary concerto tango compositions by Astor Piazolla.
Many of the pieces performed in this programme can be found on the
"Modinha" CD.

Duo Stoiber-Stegmann & Friends Trio Programme: |
Grande Sérénade – Classical
and early Romantic period
With Wiebke van Eikeren – Viola
The instruments used in a "Grande Sérénade"
are identical with those that belonged to the beloved instruments
at the beginning of the 19th century. The different musical scales
gave the composers a nearly inexhaustible range of tonal qualities
and shades. The Classical and early Romantic period offer an affluent
repertoire of pieces that are nowadays considered to be demanding
classical light music: a link between the forms of the Viennese
Classic with the attractive melodic of the Italian music of the
time. The programme contains pieces by Nicolo Paganini, Carl Maria
von Weber, Anton Diabelli and Francesco Molino.

Alas, my love – English and American Folksongs with Cornelia Samuelis – Soprano
The Irish and English song tradition offer an almost inexhaustible fund of beautiful old melodies, which have not lost their charm to date. Many composers have fallen back on them to prove their ability for arrangements and variations. The Irish and English emigrants brought the songs to America, where they can be found in many folk songs. We would like to present the whole musical range of old English lute songs from folk song arrangements by Benjamin Britten and Robert Beaser to popular American melodies.
