Robert Beaser - Mountain Songs: Quicksilver
Robert Beaser (*1954) composed the Mountain
Songs in 1985.
Quicksilver originated as song to a poem by the American poet Daniel
Marc Epstein. The refrain reads:
Life is easy now and then
Life is a song I'll love till the end
Loving the tune I'll sing it again ...
The guitar begins with joyous, lighthearted motion in a lilting
triple meter. The tune enters in the flute, a plain, pure melody
with a hymnic ascent that seems to invite the listener to sing along.[...]
